Feminism is unarguably the single most talked about topic since the turn of the 20th century.
Although, roots of it can be traced as far back as the 18th century, but not until the 20th century did it become so popular that it has caused so many movements both online and offline, but what is this feminism and how do you agree with it?
Simply put, feminism is advocating on women’s rights on the grounds of equality of both men and women in areas of politics, economics, personal, and social equality of the sexes. It is what you call gender equality but in all truth and fairness do you think gender be equal?
Many people have argued that women and men should be treated equally without any stereotype, women should actively engage in politics without being mostly given the lesser roles, women should be given same treatment as men wherever and whenever but some have disagreed overtly stating clearly that gender equality should never be promoted and that in all dealings, men should be treated better than the women and the women should be subjected to the male species.
But the thing here is, is it bad to promote gender equality, if the world is promoting it in one way or the other. I am watching the FIFA women’s world cup been held in France 2019 and I saw women playing football for 90 minutes, the round of 16 match between Norway and Australia went to extra time of 30 minutes and even penalties, the women gave their all to provide a great match just like their male counterparts would have done. If FIFA doesn’t put disparities in sexes why can’t we all remove the disparities from our workplace and home.
Feminists also believe that home care should be a responsibility of both parents and not just the women alone. Men should be involved in domestic activity as well.
Feminism is in no way bashing the masculine gender but advocating for what would be a natural cause that needs no conflict- An enabling and unbiased platform for both gender to thrive without giving preference to one over the other.
Thanks to NICHOLAS IRURHE for this with me. God bless you
