As the elders left the shrine, they murmured and were cursing the chief priest with so much anger in their heart. On their way to the Igwe’s palace, they came across some villagers crying so deeply profusely. The elders stopped to find out what could be the problem was.
Elder 1: What is going on here?
None of the villagers answered them. Instead They pushed and cursed their way through the elders thus even disrespecting ed the elders by pushing them away and cursing them.
Villager 1: Another man has just died just now. You all call yourselves loyal elders of the land, yet you sit in your homes so comfortably and do nothing to save the lives of our people.
Villager 2: Yes, I agree., Can’t you do anything? What of the so- called Igwe of the land? He sits in his home , his beautiful mansion home with his family and does nothing.
Villager 3: I pray one of your family members the member of your family dies now. You will feel the pain we are going through.
Villager 4: Even the members of the Igwe’s family is not spared;, there is no food, no water, deaths everywhere. We are in pain . pain. Do something! If not, we will take action into our own lands.
The elders left the scene in shame and could not say anything. They continued their journey to the Igwe’s palace and encountered another horrible scenario. They saw some other set of villagers carrying two dead bodies for burialto go and bury them. The elders were so sad and couldn’t say a word but continued to the Igwe’s palace. As they got to the Igwe’s palace, the elders banged at the gate. Two of the palace’s guards came to the gate
Guard 1: I greet you, loyal elders of our land, you are welcome
Elder 1: We’ve been standing here and banging at this gate for over 20 minutes! we have standing here and banging at the gate. Are you both deaf? Have you both lost respects for we , the elders? Common, quickly open this gate now!. We need to go inside and tell the Igwe all the issues going on right as we speak, especially the evil the chief priest has committed.
Guard 1: My elders, I respect you all a lot but I am not allowed to open this gate for anyone including you elders.
The elders were angry and started were insulting the guards. They ordered that they must open the gate be opened or they break it into pieces. As the elders were still arguing with the guards, some group of villagers came to the palace, singing a war song and carrying heavy woods and spears, planks, stones and other things for war.
Villager 1: We have come to destroy this palace. The Igwe is wicked. He sits comfortably enjoying with his household and does not care about the welfare of his own people. Today, we must end this madness, the deaths, the sorrows, hunger, crying, and more. Igwe, come out and face your people!
All Villagers: Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! Yes!!!!
The elders became confused and did not know what to do. They stood here looking so horrified. Thirty minutes later, the Igwe came out to address the villagers and elders,
Igwe: My people
All: Igwe
Igwe: I feel your pain. It saddens my heart. You think I am enjoying inside my palace but I am not. I am thinking of a solution to bring back our peace.
Elder1: Igwe, we caught the chief priest eating and drinking our sacrifice to the gods. We encountered three deaths and burials just on our way here from the shrine. Please do something. Look at the faces of your villagers.
Villager 1: Igwe, I greet you. You said you are not enjoying inside your palace but thinking of a solution?
Igwe: Of course!
Villagers 2: So Open the gate, let us go in and to confirm it!
Igwe: You can’t come in. , Remember I told you all to remain at home. The strange sickness can affect us more s by coming together, even as you are standing together closely now. I prefer you all go home and the solution will come as soon as you know.
Instead, The all Villagers said no and refused to go home and tired to enter the palace. They started shouting and the noise was loud and a riot began. One of the villagers with an heavy stick hit the oldest elder on his head. The elder began to bleed from the impact.
Igwe: Will you all stop this madness? This is a palace and not a war zone. How dare you resort to this fighting in my presence? I am still your Igwe!!
All: Igwe
Igwe: I want the noble youths to carry the elder to the hospital now before he dies here.
Villager 3: But who and who will go? Remember as you said, we should all we are maintaining distance from each other..
Igwe: Carry him now, now. The rest of you behave yourselves and go home. Solution will come soon. Mark my words.
All: Igwe
A month passed and yet no solution, deaths and the number of people increased. One day, one of the palace guards went to the king and to tell him he had a solution
Igwe: What? You mean you had a solution all this while and allowed the strange sickness to spread. I can curse you now you know?
Guard 1: Igwe, it was just a few days ago that I found out about it. I am so sorry
Igwe: Now, run, go and fetch me the solution before sunset. Goooooo……
The guard ran out of the palace with so much haste to fetch the solution. He came back with a pastor. He is called Pastor Charles. They went straight to meet the Igwe.
Guard: Igwe, I have brought a pastor, Pastor Charles. He has a solution to all our problem in the land.
Igwe: Pastor Charles, you are most welcome to my palace. pleasePlease sisit down
Pastor Charles: Igwe, I am so happy to meet you. I have heard of all your good works and how kind you are.
Igwe: Thank you. Please, my people are in danger due to some strange illness that came out of from nowhere. help us. My guard here says you have a solution. What could that be?
Pastor Charles: (smiling) The solution is for all of you to give your lives to Christ. The Alpha and Omega, the Greatest King, Good God, mighty and powerful.
Igwe: How?
Pastor Charles: Gather all your people and you shall see.
The Igwe immediately asked the messenager to announce to that the whole villagers to gather at the palace at once. Soon, they all came.
Pastor Charles: My people, you are the people of GOD. All you need is to give your lives to him wholeheartedly hearty. He shall restore everything you have lost. It’s easy and simple. Please say after me, Llord JESUSJesus, I accept you to be my God. I worship you and thank you. Please write my name in the book of life. I love you, Lord. Amen.
Everyone did so and went home rejoicing believing that this was the final solution. Few months later, the peace, good health and more good things was restored back to the land. There was happiness again. The shrine was destroyed and the chief priest became a Christian too. All glory to GOD
