STUDENT’S TALK- DAVID EMERI

When it comes to education, we all know that it is important to give the best we can both as parents and teachers and the society at large. In this era of covid-19, all students world wide has been told to stay home to protect the lives of our kids. On the other hand, students have their own view about this virus and it has affected them in so ways, socially, physically, academically, spiritually, mentally and other ways we cant even imagine.

So, WORDS FROM NANCY’S BLOG has decided to go out there to interview students to share their minds about their deep feelings on how covid-19 has affected them. Today marks another new section on the blog.  The government has done well, I mean its a good thing to save the lives of the students. I therefore introduce to you all,  STUDENT’S TALK. I believe this will help students and everyone out there to know the heart of the student.

We are kicking off with a student from Covenant Univeristy, Otta, Nigeria, DAVID EMERI. He is going to share his view about the covid-19 effect on him as a student.

1.HI DAVID, can you please tell us more about yourself?

ANS: Good day everyone, I’m EMERI David Chukwuemeka. One of the most lovable person you”ll ever meet. I’m 6’2, a freak for Jesus and basketball.

2. What school do you attend and the level you are currently in and course of study?

ANS: I’m a 100 level student of Covenant University, OTA, Nigeria studing Biochemistry.

3. Now schools has been shut down due to covid-19, how has it affected you personally?

ANS: The lock down of schools has affected me in many ways. Both positive and other ways which I believe is to make me a better person.

4. Government seems to say that school won’t be opened until maybe next year, how do you feel about that?

ANS: Schools won’t be opened till next year?? Ohh that’s very bad. I feel kinda sad about the whole situation but its all for our own good. I mean asides the fact that Im going to miss my friends and folks very dearly, I’ll also miss school work and projects cause you’ll agree with me that doing school work at home is not as easy as we all think. With all the distractions here and there. I wish something can be done for schools to re-open early.

5. You being at home all these months, is there any new thing you have learnt or examine about yourself?

ANS: Well yes. I’ve always had problems with my reading culture but during this period, I have been able to identify the reading culture that suits me and its been working really well for me. I’ve also gotten to know more of what I want to achieve in life as well as developing new hobbies for myself.

6. Missing school now, what will be some of the setbacks you may face if school is to be opened today?

ANS: Most of the courses I offer now are more of practicals and I’ve not been able to do practicals to follow up on the theory aspects that I’ve been studying so I believe its going to be a major setback for me and also for people who are in this predicament too.

7. There is home school in the mean time, do you prefer home school or being in school learning?

ANS: I think I’d prefer to learn in school. Believe me, 75% of students will definitely choose to learn in school. I mean the whole school environment is a motivation for students and the access to numerous materials and endless pressure from lecturers is another thing you can’t get from home school.

8. If covid-19 is to end now and school reopens, what will you like to do?

ANS: Honestly, I’d go to school immediately, forgetting all that happened in these previous months.

9. Some students are not active anymore with the covid-19 situation, its really hard, what will be your advise to them?

ANS: I don’t blame any student for their in activeness during this period. I mean, keeping up with these online classes is quite expensive and stressful for us students and even lecturers with the cost of data and all. My advice to them is to make use of hard copy materials to read and study if they are having difficulties with internet connections and data tariffs. They also need to examine themselves and figure out their hobbies and talents. And lastly try forming a better relationship with their maker.

10. Is there any expectations you expect after this covid-19?

ANS: Nothing much. I just want everything to go back to the way it was 5 months ago

DAVID EMERI: Thank you big aunt Nancy for having me on your platform. Love you plenty plenty.
