COVID-19: CADBURY, PWC SUPPORT FCTA WITH PALLIATIVES

 

THE Cadbury Nigeria Plc and Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) have donated palliative items to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA)’s food bank to cushion the effects of Coronavirus pandemic.

Territorial commercial manager of North-West, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Mr. Ladi Sonuga; while presenting the items, lauded the steps taken so far by the administration to manage the COVID-19 pandemic in the territory.

He, therefore, called for concerted efforts to sustain the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Sonuga revealed that the lockdown announced by President Muhammadu Buhari, has severely hampered operational efficiency of most companies.

“As a stakeholder in the Nigerian economy, we are deeply concerned about the implications of COVID-19, and the destruction is causing to lives, livelihoods and businesses.

“The lockdown implemented by almost all states in the country, as well as specific lockdown of Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory announced by President Buhari, has severely hampered operational efficiency,” he said.

The spokesman of Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), Mr. Tolu Adeleke, also appreciated the efforts of government at all levels in containing the spread of Coronavirus, stressing that PWC has supported government’s efforts at different strata.

Adeleke called on the authorities of the administration to judiciously distribute the palliative items to underserved communities in the territory.

Receiving the items on behalf of the administration, FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu; commended the efforts of both firms in cushioning the effects of sit-at-home order, stressing that all hands must be on deck in the battle against the dreaded disease.

The minister, who was represented by the director of Human Resource Management, Mallam Mohammed Bashir, noted that the items would, in no small measure, assist the administration to cushion the effects of the lockdown caused by the pandemic.
