Welcome everyone to another exciting time on CELEBRITY’S WORLD. This week, we have a talented, young lady who is using her beautiful hands to make footwear for the society at large. Its good to know that women can do a lot mind what the complexity may be. So, I present to you all, my friend and sister, CEO of HANNADE FOOTWEAR, HANNAH ADEJUMO……
1. Can you please introduce yourself to us.
ANS: First of all, I will like to thank you for the opportunity. My name is Hannah Adejumo and I am the Founder and CEO of Hannade footwear. I am an unapologetic lover of Jesus Christ and the
gospel of truth. I had my first degree in Biology Education at the University of Lagos and I am
currently running my masters’ degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Ibadan. You
probably will wonder at my area of interest, lol…children have a safe space in my heart and this
informed my decision to specialize in Educational Psychology. I am actually a teacher at heart.
2. How did you start making foot wears with your hands?
ANS: Well, that’s a great question. Few months before I was posted to Oyo state, Ibadan for National
Youth Service Corps in 2017, I developed a strong interest in learning how to make leather
products. I was super fascinated by a handmade leather bag I saw one time and I made up my
mind I was going to learn that once I started serving. Fast forward to when I eventually got my
posting letter and had to resume the 3 weeks’ orientation camp in less than two days, I
prepared as much as I could and set out to camp. So many things in-between this but I
eventually settled in. So there is this thing that’s done in camp and It’s called Skill Acquisition
and Entrepreneurship Development Program usually referred to as S.A.E.D. This has to be one of
the best innovations NYSC has embarked on so far because I have seen how it has helped a lot
of people gain relevant entrepreneurial skills. Well, because I already knew what I wanted
before I even got my posting at all, I immediately opted in for the leather craft session. I made
my first slides and boom, it literally blew. I was so into it and I decided I was going go into this
fully. As soon as the orientation camp was over and I was posted to my place of primary
assignment a.k.a PPA, I was favored enough to find a teacher at very close proximity to me
where I spent the rest of my service year learning the art of shoemaking every Saturday and
that’s how Hannadé started.
3. How do you get funds for your business?
ANS: Well, funding this business has been primarily from my savings and the proceeds gotten from
the business and secondarily from grants.
4. What are the challenges or difficulties you face in your business?
ANS: Hmmmmmmm, challenges!!!. First of all, challenges are major parts of a business and if
approached properly they become great learning points to do better in business. So I don’t
really see them as challenges per say, I see them more as learning phases. You know doing
business in Nigeria alone is a major challenge from the regulations that don’t even allow your
business survive. I personally have had to deal with artisans not working optimally, major
delivery issues and a whole lot. But like I said, they are not challenges but are learning points for
me to do better.
5. How do you get your audience or buyers to buy your footwears?
ANS: I basically make sales on Social media via Instagram, Whatsapp and Facebook. Thank God for the
gift of social media. It has made sales a whole lot easier. I have not met 70% of my clients in
person and we have had successful business transactions that have now translated into
beautiful relationships.
6. Apart from footwear, what other occupation do you find yourself doing?
ANS: Well, I am a many sided woman and Hannade’ is just a part of my multi influential flow. Like I
said earlier, I am an Educationist and currently working on a project in that space. I am also and
equipper of men and I founded MadeForMore.ng, a movement of recreating our lives with the
right mindset and activating it into conscious clarity. I see myself doing a lot, however my
purpose and works are centered around Faith, Growth, Mind shift and Education.
7.How has the COVID-19 affected your business?
ANS: COVID-19 is that one thing we never expected to have so much impact in the course of life in
the longest time ever. No doubts that Hannade’ has been affected but we are embracing the
change and fitting maximally into the emerging world.
8. In the next five years to come, where do you see yourself and your business at?
ANS: In the next five years, I actually see myself living my best life the way God wants it, making
progress, fulfilling purpose and excelling in my multi influential flow not compromising those
things that are very dear to me.
9. What advice will you give to youths of your age to help themselves become more useful as you are?
ANS: TRUST THE PROCESS! That’s it. I see a lot of pressure to be known and heard and it’s funny how
a lot of us are falling for it. My generation needs to literally calm down and chill. It’s okay if you
don’t have that car now, or that house or 30 billion dolls. IT’S OKAY. This is the time to build
authenticity and trust your process. Don’t google and paste and parrot what everyone is saying
or doing. Don’t try to prove a point. BE YOU AND DO YOU. I am not here to prove a point! I am
here to live and live well. This is the one mindset that keeps me going.
