A little girl of four years old, Maryjane by name; fair, tall, who always loved to find ways to be happy even though things could be hard for her and her family.
One day, she sat in front of her window and saw how her neighbors were so happy and full of joy. It so happened that her neighbors had already bought C
That night, Maryjane couldn’t sleep, and after a bit of tossing around on her bed she decided to go to the sitting room to watch some cartoons. Her mind wasn’t fully on the cartoons she watched, as she kept thinking about what to do to get her big Christmas gift. She remembered the Bible verse, Matthew 7:7, “ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE”. She wondered how she would receive from heaven knowing full well that she can’t go there to receive her gift. She wondered and wondered and then decided to write a Christmas letter to God. It read:
DEAR GOD,
My name is Maryjane, your little girl, the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Dominic. How are you doing today and how are things in
the heavens and the angels?
I heard that heaven is so beautiful and made with gold which shines
so bright; even more that the sun here on earth. I know that one day,
I am going to see you. Our pastor says that we must be children of God to
see heaven and you too. Well, I believe I am a child of God, so I will know you will
let me in when I come but that will be when I am 100 years old. As you know I am
still five years old and have a long way to go, so please open the gates of heaven for me when I am 100 years
old or more, thank you.
Now, my request for Christmas is a big gift. My parents said that they can’t buy
me this big gift for Christmas this year. Theymade me understand that they cannot
afford it this year. Well, even though I am still a child, I still know one or two things.
What I know is that your book, hmmm, yes, the Bible, says that all we need is a little
faith to receive our blessings. I am little now and I will grow bigger very very soon.
So I have that little faith and I ask you dear God to please give me my big Christmas
gift on Christmas Day. I promise to be an obedient girl to my parents and to love my
neighbor just the way you love me. I hope you receive my Christmas letter so that my
Christmas Day will be wonderful and a happy one for me. Thank you in advance.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year, dear God.
Your little child,
M.J
Maryjane.
