Hi everyone from all over the world. Welcome to another segement of STUDENT’S TALK. I know its been a long time we had students come on my blog and say their minds out. But we are fully back and no going back.
As everyone knows, schools have resumed fully, we have daycare, junior school, high school and colleges, there are in-person classes and online classes, whichever one you refer to do is fully avaiable. So today after a long time of not having students on my blog, we have a very special student. She is beautiful, intelligent, a good christian, she is currently a junior student of GAITHERSBURG HIGH SCHOOL, MARYLAND, USA. She is talented in making meat-pie, playing Hockey and on and on. Everyone, I present to you all the lovely, beautiful, IBHADE AKHABUE,
1. Welcome IBHADE, its so good to have you on my blog, I am very exicted. So could you please introduce yourself to everyone, your school, family and more?
ANS: My name is Ibhade Akhabue and I’m a senior at Gaithersburg High School.
I live with just my mom but I’m also very close to my uncle as well.
2. So, can you tell us your favorite hobbies, especially activities you are involved in at school?
ANS: I play field hockey. I’m the SGA Secretary at my school and an MCR Executive Board Member.
Outside of school, I like to read and I’m currently learning to play the piano.
3. Corona has been on for over a year and some months now, how did you cope knowing that you couldn’t go to school, communicate with friends, and do all what you love to do?
ANS: It was a little difficult to remain at home all day without doing nothing but after a while, I got
used to it. I was able to keep in touch with my friends by video calling them. And all I could
wish for, was that we would eventually be able to go back to school and socialize in due time.
4. During the lockdown, what did you discover or learn more about yourself personally?
ANS: I learnt that I could be alone and enjoy my own company. Often times when you’re
constantly mingling with people 24/7, it’s easy to forget that you can just be alone
with yourself and just relax. So being in lockdown allowed to be able to do that.
5. Now school is on, how do you feel going back to school?
ANS: Going back to school is bittersweet because on one hand, I get to interact
with my friends and teachers but it is also a lot to re-adjust to because
I signed up for so many different activities, so I have a lot on my plate.
6. Is there anything different starting school again, mixing up with friends and being able to go out to have fun?
ANS: It’s really nice to be able to hang out with my friends and go to school everyday.
7. You have resume school now; do you feel you have lost a whole lot and what are you doing to catch up in making good grades in school?
ANS: I think I have lost a lot in terms of time-management and organization. Online school left
me very disorganized because I felt like I didn’t have a structure in day. Going back to
schoo now, I’ve just been trying to improve on how I manage my time.
8. As a young, brilliant, and beautiful girl that you are, what do you imagine for yourself in years to come?
ANS: In years to come, I hope to be at a point in my life where I feel happy and fulfilled.
I also want to be able to take care of my mother and repay her for the sacrifices
she has made in her life to accommodate me.
9. Personally, what’s your view on home school and in-person school, is it the same?
ANS:There’s definitely a huge difference between virtual learning and in person school.
With virtual learning, I felt like there was a huge disconnection between myself and the
material I was learning with. It was so easy to get distracted by my surroundings.
But being at school in person, makes it easier for me to focus on what I’m
learning and it keeps the distractions to a minimum.
10. You are above 13 years of age; how would you describe your Christian life?
ANS: I would say that my Christian life is one that is growing. Sometimes with all the
distractions in the world, it can get a little difficult to stay on track but people like
my mother and the head of my church’s choir department that I’m part of of, help
keep my grounded and are always there to draw me closer to God at times when
I feel far from God.
11. Describe how happy you are that corona has settled a little bit and what’s your advise to every young teenager out there living the wrong life?
ANS: I am glad that corona has settle down a bit because at least we can begin to
return to some version of normal. To every teenager going down the wrong path,
I just want them to pause and think about where they would like to see themselves
years down the line. In the present, it may seem like what you’re doing is your only way
out of whatever situation you’re in but the future has a lot to hold. All we have to do it is fight hard for that future, because no one else can advocate for yourself other than you.
12. Any last words from you before you go?
ANS: The only thing I would have to say is for all teenagers is sometimes, society can make
it seem as though our struggles and opinions are not valid just because we’re kids
but that it not true. Our feelings and opinions are valid and we all just need to take
life day by day.
