Friendship goes a long way in the lives of people. They cherish it for the longest time they had spent together. This is a story of two friends and how one truly cherished the other without regretting it.
Ada and Feranmi are two best friends. They have been friends right from when Feranmi and his family moved into the same estate Ada lives in. Feranmi started attending the same school with Ada and her siblings. They both live on the same street and they are known around. They both do most of the things together, they both go to church together, go to the same school and they are always seat partners at school. Feranmi is the protective one and very smart too while Ada is the very opened person, more friendly and very shy in some cases. Every time, Ada enters the school, most students will always mock her. They didn’t like her at all. They made her look like she off around them. They made her feel bad about herself too. She was scared to come to school most days. She will cry and cry and it was difficult for her to concern in class.
Two years later, both Ada and Feranmi graduated to high school. Everything was going on well until a new student came into the school and she was put in Ada and Feranmi’s class. Her name is Mel. Mel came in with a lot of swag. She was an oppressor, she came from a very wealthy home, she wore the expensive dresses, worn expensive perfume. Everyone in school wanted to know her. Ada and Feranmi didn’t care so much about it. One day at school, Mel came to school with this expensive car that her father just bought, Mel had asked her dad to allow their driver take her to school in new car. Mel’s dad agreed to it. As the driver drove into the school’s complex, everyone stared at the car. Students couldn’t stop talking about it especially when they knew it was Mel, the new student. She came down and gave everyone that sassy look. Later that afternoon, Ada went to meet Mel during lunch break. Ada has been admiring her since the first day, Ada wishes to be like her. Ada told Mel how much she wants to be like her, Mel at first did not agree, Ada felt sad about it, she couldn’t tell Feranmi because he will never agree to it. Later that day after school, Mel approached Ada and told her that she could join her clique of friends.
Months later, Ada has become a whole different kind of person, she started missing classes and her grades became low. Feranmi complained but she refused to listen. Feranmi was confused to the kind of person Ada had become. Ada stopped going to school with Feranmi, their friendship became distant. People had noticed the change between both of them. Both Ada’s parents and Feranmi’s parents were very concerned. A friendship that been there for long has turned into a sour one. Feranmi tried his best to make Ada come back to her senses but she totally refused. One day, Feranmi had to confront Mel. He told to stop leading Ada astray but Mel didn’t care to listen to him. Somehow, Mel told her father and he sent a court order to Feranmi to never go near Ada or Mel. It became so bad that no one in school, not even the principal or teachers could touch them. Ada moved out of her parents’ house to go live with Mel. At this point, you should know that Mel is an only child, born into wealth and her mum had died, leaving her dad to take care of her alone. Mel’s dad spoilt her silly and never cared about the consequences. Mel never had good grades in school, her dad kept on changing school for her every other year. So when Ada came to live with them, Mel’s dad didn’t mind, he was happy because Mel had always wished for a sister or brother to be around her especially when he travels on his business trip. They partied together, Ada went into drugs and smoking, drinking and more. She started following men who are her dad’s age. At a point, Mel couldn’t take Ada’s excesses.
Feranmi prayed for Ada everyday, hoping for the day, she would change and come back to herself. Mel left the school because she got tired of people asking her about Ada. She just couldn’t give a reasonable answer. Later on, it was said that Ada left Mel’s house to travel, she traveled with of her sugar daddies and no one knows to where. Police officers were sent to Mel’s house for investigation but Ada was nowhere to be found. Prayers were conducted for Ada, friends and families joined Feranmi in praying for her. A year passed and Ada was never found.
This is the story of two friends and how friendship could fall apart. Until now, Ada has not been found. We shouldn’t look at people and the kind of lifestyle they live. It is not going to affect you in a good way. Let’s be contented with what we have and focus on making the best out of our lives. I pray GOD will help us. Amen.
