A MOM’S HEART

The love of a mom cannot be broken. It is so hard to see a mom give up her love for her kids just like that expect they don’t have the kind of heart God has given to them as mothers. A mom’s heart is warm, soft, fragile, blessed and so tender. A mom won’t allow any of her kids go hungry mostly to sleep at night without food. she makes sure that food is provided, no matter how little it could be.  A mom’s heart is always touched, her heart beats fast especially when it feels like something is wrong with her kids even when they are far apart from each other. A mom never gives up on her family. She sees greatness in every possible way she can imagine. She understands how to carry her child when he or she falls on the way. She believes in her children to bring success to her and her husband. She doesn’t rest nor sleep until everything is well and good at home. A mother is ready to fight to the end, to see her kids happy. She gets to wear rags and old clothes for her children to dress well in expenses clothes. A mom never gives up but always have faith in her children.

Amaka, a beautiful young lady who got married fourteen years ago to Henry. Three months into the marriage, she got divorced. Henry had suddenly woken up on fateful Thursday morning and told her, it was over. At that time, she found out that she was pregnant with his child. She was confused, she didn’t know what to do. Henry had gone back to his former girlfriend and reconciled with her, behind Amaka’s back.  Months later, Amaka put to bed to a bouncing baby boy. The whole family was happy for her but that happiness lasted for a while because three months after, Amaka’s family relocated to UK without her and never got in contact with her ever again. They had blocked her everywhere on social media and changed their numbers as soon as they got to the UK. Amaka cried and cried. Her family saw her a as shame since she is now a single mom and her husband had left her just like that.

Amaka struggled and struggled. She stay with her grandma in their family house in the village. Her grandma would take care of her child while she went out to look for a job, so she could do it to provide for the home. It was very difficult. Amaka kept on trying to get in contact with her Family in UK but never reachable. Her grandma had also tried all she could do to reach out too but to no avail. This became so worrisome but at the end, they both had to take care of each other. Her grandma sold some of her finest wrappers for them to eat and with time, she got to start up a small Business of their own infornt of their home. It was a provision store. they earned as much as they could to eat and they were happy.

Fourteen years has passed, Amaka lost her grandma. She was left alone to take care her son, Emeka. The provision store was still there for them to survive. Emeka is now fourteen years of age. He has never met his father and Amaka has told him what transpired between them. Amaka has raised such an handsome, young man in Emeka. He is academically doing well. Everyone admires him until one fateful day, the story changed. Emeka’s classmate and his parents came to see Amaka. They were shouting and cursing both Emeka and his mom, Amaka. “What could be the problem? Amaka asked. This has never happened before. Everyone had to just come to find out why they were shouting. The mom of Emeka’s classmate  had reported to his mom that he didn’t get to eat his lunch because Emeka stolen his lunch box and ate everything inside and didn’t care to apologize. When Amaka heard this, she was dumbfounded. She could not believe her son did this. Everyone cursed Emeka and remembered Amaka of her predicament and her pass came back. Amaka locked herself for weeks. It was her friend, one and only good friend, Ezinne, who she had in the whole Village that comes to help her out and comfort her. It really pained Amaka. So one day, she just had to talk to her son and find out why he stole from his classmate.

Emeka told his mom that it was because she didn’t give him food to take to school, also she didn’t give him money to buy anything or pay for the school lunch that they provide at school and that the previous night, they drank garri  and went to bed and had to eat little bread without egg or butter and used drinking water has tea for the bread. That he got to school and saw that his classmate had jolly rice and plantains and chicken, he couldn’t resist it and so he stolen it to satisfy his hungry state. Emeka blamed his mom for putting them in such a state of no food or good place to stay and accused for living his dad, that if she hadn’t, they will have a better life. Amaka got angry and slapped Emeka. She threw him out of the house. He slept outside that night. Amaka cried and cried. She became weak. Her shop was closed for days. Everything came to a default at that point in time. Days had passed.

Amaka decided to take money from her savings in the bank. This money was saved in order to open a bigger store but she had no choice than to take out of the money to prepare amazing and delicious food for her son, Emeka. She did not him to steal again in school or anywhere else. Emeka came back from school on that fateful day and saw all the dishes prepared. He asked his mom how come there was lot of food, but she refused to answer and gave him a cold look. That same evening, Amaka and her friend, Ezinne were outside the home and Emeka eased drop to listen to their conversation. Amaka told her friend how she took out a huge amount from her savings to buy food stuff and make sure, Emeka gets lot of food to eat than to steal again. Emeka went to his room and cried. he felt so bad and insulted himself for being inconsiderate of things in the house. He realized his mistake and decided to be a good boy that this mom raised. The following morning, Emeka was on his way out to go to school when Amaka stopped him and gave him, a very beautiful new lunchbox she bought and some money to hold incase  he was hungry because that day, he had football practice after school and will come home late. He thanked his mom and went to School. Instead of Emeka to use his money and buy food, he used to get his mom, a Mother’s Day gift. He was so happy and wanted to make up for the wrong he did to her by stealing from his classmate.

Two days later, a beautiful Sunday morning, Amaka and Emeka were both set to go to church for service. Before they got to their gate. Emeka stopped his mom and brought out his gift and gave it to her. Emeka assured her that he brought the gift with the money she gave him to buy food at School two days ago. He also promised her to always be a good boy and never talk to her in a bad way. Amaka was so surprised and cried. She was so happy and thanked God her son’s life. They both hugged each other for a while and went to church with happiness and joy in their hearts.      THE END.

I pray that through this story, we will all love the effort of moms has put in taking care of us. God bless us all. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY.
