It was a lovely, quiet evening, and there was a power outage. So, Melvin decided to go to his balcony for some fresh air. The house was hot and stuffy, and all he wanted was to relax in a cool environment. He sits outside looking round his area and later took a book to read. He read four chapters and then sleeps off on his chair. He finds himself in a white and gold shiny room, filled with beauty and a different kind of aura. He got scared and wondered where he was. It’s not his house. It doesn’t even look like anywhere in Nigeria. Where am I? What is this place? Melvin got very confused. He was scared too. He looked around and began shouting for anyone at the top of his voice. Some minutes later, he quietens and sits down, still scared and clueless. After waiting for what seemed like the longest time, he finally sleeps off. Some time passes, and a feel of a tap on his shoulder wakes him up,
BEST FRIEND: Wake up, wake up Melvin. You have been asleep too long.
MELVIN: Who are you? I can’t see you, it’s so shiny and bright.
BEST FRIEND: I am your best friend, someone who watches over you daily.
MELVIN: (Laughing) Excuse me, I have never met you before, how can you call me your best friend?
BEST FRIEND: Funny right? I get that a lot. Most people like you don’t believe in me.
MELVIN: Well, they don’t know you; I don’t know you; how can you call me your best friend? Besides, I have my own best friend… please, where am I? This is different from my house.
BEST FRIEND: Everyone has me as his or her best friend. It is for them to accept it. They prefer humans beside them than me. Since you are confused about who I am to you, I will explain it to you but it will take some time and you are going to spend a long day with me.
Melvin was extremely surprised. He wondered what exactly was going on. It was unbelievable. Melvin walked with his mysterious best friend, around the place. Looking at this beautiful place with so much gold and shiny decorations. He saw houses which he had never seen before. His mysterious best friend showed him the wonders of the place.
BEST FRIEND: This is where a lot of people will come to after their lives end on earth. This is my magnificent palace, a place of love, peace, rest, comfort, and all the good things you can have. Sadly, a lot of people will not make it into this place.
MELVIN: Why won’t some be able to enter this place? WHY???
