Hi everyone, welcome to another time to review a new movie on Netflix. Enjoy my review.

This movie is titled GOD’S CALLING. The movie came out on Netflix some weeks ago. Its a gospel movie which relates to christian. The movie is about a lady who is SADE played by (ZAINAB BALOGUN). She is married to FRANCIS played by KARIBI FUBARA and they both have a child called LOLA played by DIANA EGWUATU. Sade is someone who God is calling to do his work. She was told by the pastor indirectly or it wasn’t just straight forward for her because she saw it  as a way of the pastor asking for money but that wasn’t the case. Again, she didn’t get the message because she wasn’t even a strong christian. According to the movie, it looks like Sade and her family haven’t been to church for two months and it was a normal thing to just stay home every Sunday and then in the evening, they go visit the Sade’s parents’ home. So I am also guessing that they do not do the morning or night devotion, they are not even close to God. Now, this family is a family happy, they have everything money can buy, things like cars, houses, new clothes and more. What I feel was that they were lacking God in the home. The main actress, ZAINAB BALOGUN, she got involved in drugs because of the news of her not being able to have other kids as she desires. She did this secretly, her husband, which was played by KARIBI FUBARA, he was a caring, awesome, lovely and a faithful husband and father to his wife and kid, he was supportive and amazing. Some men would decided to cheat on their wife because they wanted more kids but he did not do that. One thing I didn’t like about the story was why he couldn’t go to the east to see his family, his parents played by ONYEKA ONWENU and NKEM OWOH were not at his wedding, were not at his child’s naming and dedication ceremony. His kid never got to met her grand parents from the east , its only the one at Lagos she always saw which I find so hard to understand why it was so. KARIBI, who is Francis is the husband who has the authority to make decision like taking his family once in a while to go see his parents in the east and he wasn’t doing that at all. It was only phone calls or video calls and his father never spoke to him that much and he wasn’t bothered. If you watch the movie very well, the wife and her parents which was played by RICHARD MOFE DAMIJO and TINA MBA, took most of the decisions in the life of the family even down to naming their little child played by DIANA EGWUATU. DIANA who is Lola in the movie acted so well, she is priceless, her acting skills is phenomenal, I liked her for her smile, she acted so good liked it was a real life situation. She should be recognized round the world for her role.

Now, looking deeper into the movie, it said that network in Nigeria is bad, poor, faint and not good at all, I get  that. But, this particular day, the day of the incident which killed Lola and burnt down the house of Sade and Francis, Sade was home with her little daughter who she put to sleep because the girl walked in on her in her room when she was taking cocaine and she was so angry. I liked the part where Lola told her mum, Sade, that I love you mum upon the way she was angry at her. It was priceless, kids are so innocent. I know Sade felt it. So after that,  Sade received a call and to me, she was able to answer the call clearly inside the house. I felt there was no need for her to go outside the home, yes, the call was very sensitive and important but Lola was far away and won’t be able to listen to their conversation. She had no reason for going outside. Lola woke up from her beauty sleep and called her mum several times, walked round the house looking for her mum and was hungry. She had no choice but to go into the kitchen and prepare indomie. Apparently, Lola had seen her parents cooked before, she had studied how to put the gas on and she felt she could do it. When I watched that part, trust me, I cried. I don’t know about you guys but I felt it. I was frighten for her. Lola placed seven packed of indomie on the table and labeled each one for her family members including her grandparents in the east, I loved that. Lola finally turned on the gas and the house got burnt and her little girl died. It was painful and my heart was broken. The day of the burial ceremony of Lola was good, but I feel that the pastor shouldn’t have told Sade that God was calling her, don’t get me wrong, the pastor was led by God to tell Sade that but it wasn’t the right time. She was mourning over the death of her daughter. He could have said it maybe days later after she might have settled down a little bit. Sade got offended and was hitting the pastor with so much bitterness in her heart which I don’t blame her for, already she has that reason that it is all about money the pastor was asking for. Sade’s husband had to take her out of the church to make her clam down. You know GOD is very merciful and kind, his ways are not our ways. When her phone rang and Sade saw who was calling which is GOD. She got so surprised and broke her phone like how can God call her, already she doesn’t believe in GOD. Her phone shattered into pieces and it was still ringing, in fear she ran back to church and called her husband to see what had happened. In this part of the movie, it takes only someone with the strong faith in God to understand what was going, I am guessing the pastor understood but won’t talk. No one was able to believe her, like it was not realistic, the death of her daughter made her go off track a little. On and on, we see how the whole mourning of Lola was going. I would say that I am happy Sade’s parents allowed Sade and her husband live them after everything. Francis kept on working and tried all he could do to see Sade through the whole mourning process. When he found out that his wife was still taking cocaine, he was angry which was expected but he still loved her. Asa played by EKU EDEWOR, please can I strangle her, (laughing), this guy, Francis is mourning and going through a lot with his life and yet you are putting evil ideas in his head about his own wife all because you want to sleep with him, girl, I feel that was off. Her role was played well, but it should be cut off. I am happy that Francis didn’t fall for her seductive move. She was offended and angry, that was good.

To the juiciest part of the movie, Francis came home drunk and said a lot of things to Sade, he wanted a divorce, he asked her where and what she was doing when their kid got burnt and Sade was just confused, she wasn’t expecting that from her husband. She got up in the morning and took some little cocaine, put on this ugly make up and left the house to kill herself at third mainland bridge. She actually prayed to GOD to accept her and then the angel played by ADEMOLA ADEDOYIN appeared and saved her life, still her phone was ringing and it was God that was calling her. She woke up in the boat and finally she picked up and found her way home. It was then  she realized that GOD was really calling her. Let me not take much of your time in this review. But we see how GOD works, God never gave up on his calling upon Sade’s life to do his work, no one was able to believe her, even her husband did not believe when she finally got to understand what was her calling. It took time, a lot of time, it took the death of her child to see that God was all she needed. With time, she started doing God’s work. I liked where she prayed for her friend’s husband who was a womanizer and God came down. SEUN AJAYI who played the character of the cheating husband, see how God made him to close his eyes to other women instantly and ran back home to his wife. That’s the power of God. And of course, when Sade went to the grave side of Lola and God showed her how people were suffering in hell because they were not christians, and how everything went, she was able to understand deeper that God wanted her to save lives for them to make heaven. It was that time Francis realized that his wife wasn’t crazy and started to believe her and decided to work with her. Going to the east was their destination, I believe it was because of Francis, he hasn’t been home in a very long time and God was redirecting him back to his root. Sade’s father supported them but he just didn’t feel they should go to the east, he did everything possible to make them stay in Lagos, he was going to build this massive building for their church but that wasn’t even it, Sade’s father finally had to go the east to command Francis’s parents to tell Francis not to do God’s work in the east but in LAGOS. I am happy Francis’s father stood his ground, though stubborn but you can’t just come into the house and order his around because Sade’s father brought army men  with him like, it wasn’t going to work. The role of the angel in all the scene especially saving Sdae was fantastic. I liked how he visited Sade’s father and opened his eyes to see it was God and his legs were healed, I don’t how Nigerians were able to that film trick with Sade’s father’s legs but I must salute them. NKEM  OWOH, who is Francis’s father, I totally love his role, he played it very well. He loved his son though he was angry with the fact that Francis neglected them at the village, he never visited them for years , that was wrong and bad. Francis’s mother played by ONYEKA ONWENU, I love her role. Her son did not behave well in all areas he ought to but yet she still loved him, cared, called him time to time, travelled for her grandchild’s burial, I must say that she is a sweet mother and I love her. Sade’s mum, TINA MBA, her role was few but she did great, I love her faith in God upon all that happened, she still stood by God all the way. Some people say that the movie isn’t deeply Godly, like you can’t see the impact of God, that it is just entertainment compared  to some christian movies but for I did like it. Its interesting. I learnt about listening to God carefully, holding unto God in times of difficulties and pains. I feel you should take your time and understand the movie and God will speak to you directly.

Thank you to the producers, they are 19 people in all, wow. The director, BODUNRIN SASORE, the cast and crew, you guys did an amazing job in the movie. At the ending, you could see how they did the whole falling into the water and how the angel saved Sade, the part of the hell fire and how Sade and Francis saw LOLA at the end, I wish they could show us how they did RMD’s leg, I would love to see that film trick. I saw a lot and I have grown spiritually, I just have to say that truthfully with my whole heart. If you haven’t watched the movie, please go see it on Netflix, I can give my login username and password but you will pay though, (laughing). Please share your thought on my review about this movie and if you know any cast or crew member, do tell them to read and comment. God bless you and listen to God’s calling for he is calling each and every single one of us. Thank you.
