Today, we’re featuring a Nigerian who will be sharing his personal experience of life in Nigeria. Our guest is Adejumo Adekola Olorunfemi, a pastor based in Osogbo, Osun State, who is also engaged in some additional work alongside his ministry.
Let’s dive straight into today’s discussion!
Question: How would you describe the influence of Nigerian culture on the average Christian’s faith walk today?
Answer: Nigerian culture has influenced the faith of many Christians, leading to changes in their practice and understanding of Christianity.
Question. In what ways do you think the Nigerian church has shaped how young people perceive Christianity?
Answer: The true preaching of God’s Word is bringing transformation to believers.
Question: What does living as a true Christian in Nigeria look like beyond church attendance?
Answer: Many Christians genuinely seek the Kingdom of God.
Question: What unique challenges do Nigerian Christians face when trying to live out their faith in the workplace or marketplace?
Answer: However, some are questioned by others who wonder why their faith appears different—especially when they refuse to conform to the corruption and practices common in workplaces or marketplaces.
Question: How do Nigerian Christians reconcile faith with systemic issues like corruption, poverty, and bad governance?
Answer: Believers often try to counsel others with God’s Word, correcting corruption and urging the government to act justly for the betterment of the people they govern.
Question: Do you believe Christianity in Nigeria is more of a culture or a conviction? Why?
Answer: True Christianity is not based on culture or personal conviction but on the unchanging Word of God.
Question: How is the rise of social media and digital expressions of faith affecting Nigerian Christianity today?
Answer: The influence of culture affects Christians who are not deeply rooted in God’s Word or who neglect prayer.
Question: Are Nigerian Christians truly discipled or just emotionally inspired? What’s missing?
Answer: Those who are truly in Christ become disciples of Christ. But believers who are neither hot nor cold often end up living emotionally-driven lives rather than Spirit-led ones.
Question: What has helped you personally stay rooted in Christ as a Nigerian Christian
Answer: Personally, I read God’s Word daily, believe in it, and pray consistently.
Question: What’s one thing you believe God is saying to the Nigerian Church right now?
Answer: God is calling churches and pastors to preach His Word faithfully, to believe in it, and to lead people to genuine repentance, because Heaven and Hell are real.
