Emeka has a girlfriend who is Flora, a strong christian. She loves going to church and will do all it takes to be in the presence of God. She is very God-fearing, polite, calm and everyone loves her both at home, church, school and her environment. She is mostly called sister Mary. Everyone knows that she will never compromise her faith for God for anything, not her family, school, friends and so on.
Somehow, Flora and Emeka met when she was in her100 level in the university of Calabar, Nigeria. She got fond of him and got very close. One thing led to the other, they both started dating. Emeka is not that God-fearing, he doesn’t go to church at all. Flora keeps trying to convince him to be a Christian and the fact that God can change him for good. Everyone knew Flora’s value for the kind of man she will end up dating and marrying but seeing her with Emeka, made everyone surprised. Emeka is very rich. Their meeting was at school, when Flora was sent out the exam hall, due to the fact that she couldn’t pay her school fees. She sat under a tree and Emeka saw her as he was driving to drop off his brother and sister at the school hostel. He had compassion on her and had to pack his car to know why she was crying. Upon hearing her story, he decided to help her. Ever since then, they are inseparable.
Emeka saw her through school. Flora finally graduated with first class. A week after her completion of NYSC, Emeka took Flora on a romantic date and proposed to her, everyone, of course thought that she will say yes but instead she said no. It was a shock. No one expected it. Emeka fell on his kneels and was disappointed and cried out so much. Two months later, after they had given themselves a break, Emeka went back to Flora and asked again privately to marry him, her answer still was no. Flora told him that they couldn’t be together because he still wasn’t a christian, she prayed and heard that God say that they can marry but he has to be a christian. But Flora knew he won’t change, so they officially broke up. Emeka left and had to travel to Dubai to think about the all thing. This trip was for three weeks. Emeka got to know Jesus very well and deeply and understood why Flora couldn’t marry him. God has to be the Center of their union or else, it falls. Emeka gave his life to Christ and changed. By the time, Emeka came back, he invited Flora for a private dinner at his place. Flora came over, she refused to enter the house, Emeka begged but she still refused. Emeka was about to tell her that he is now of Christ but he couldn’t say it because Flora had reached for her bag and brought out a wedding invitation card and gave it to him. Emeka was so disappointed. Flora left, she told him, goodbye forever. Two months later, Emeka was found dead in his mansion with a note saying, I AM BORN AGAIN NOW. I AM OF CHRIST. FLORA SHOULD KNOW THIS. It was also later known to people that Flora wasn’t happy with her marriage as the guy was beating her and they had a divorce.
So, everyone, from this short story, Flora would have waited for a while before jumping into the arms of another man. She prayed and heard clearly from God that Emeka is the one for her. Many of us are not waiting on God, we see his timing in our lives as a delay. Do you know what God is preparing for you? Patience is key as a child of God.
